What is Camp Adventure?

Camp Adventure is a summer program that introduces young people to career opportunities through:

  • Fun and interactive sessions
  • Games, sports, and swimming
  • Technology and art
  • Academic enrichment
  • Structured, supervised recreation
  • Program-related field trips to locations around Highlands County

Who Can Attend Camp Adventure?

Eligible participants must be between ages 6 to 12.

Key information

  • Free early drop-off/pick up to accommodate working parents.
  • Fully supervised environment with safe, structured activities.
  • Sign up for one week, two weeks, or all summer!
  • Breakfast and lunch are provided each day. Campers are also welcome to bring meals from home.

Career Academy, Building L
Campus Map
Early Drop Off Time: 7:30 a.m.
Late Pickup Time: 5:30 p.m.
All students should arrive by 8:15 a.m.

$100 per week (Monday - Thursday)
$25 per week (Optional program-related
field trips on Fridays)

Week 1 (June 9 – June 13) Beautiful Smiles and Healthy Bodies: Dental and Medical Explorers
Campers will learn basic CPR, first aid skills, how to take vital signs and why, and meet our patient simulators. Campers will interact with health care professionals from the community, as well as students from our SFSC Nursing, Radiography, and Phlebotomy programs.

Week 2 (June 16 – June 20) Mad Scientists: Pre-S.T.E.M
Ever wondered what would happen if you mixed baking soda with flour, salt, oil, and water?  Join us as we transform laboratory science into fun, interactive learning experiences.  Become a mad scientist in our “lab” and explore cause and effect, chemical reactions, and create your own OOEY GOOEY concoction!

  • Friday Field Trip - Campers will enjoy a full day of hands-on experiences as we travel to MOSI in Tampa!

Week 3 (June 23 – 27) Crime Solvers: Public Safety
Don’t leave your fingerprints behind because this week campers become experts as they experience an SFSC “crime scene investigation.”  They will learn the importance of evidence and data collecting when solving crimes as they help solve the Case of the Missing Popsicles. 

  • Friday Field Trip - Tour of the Highlands County Court House with Judge Estrada.

Week 4 (July 7 – July 11) Junior Chefs Culinary Academy:  Italian Cooking and Dining
Chef Brown and our junior chefs will discover the joys of cooking and experience how science, math, reading, health, and social skills are found in every recipe.  On Thursday, Camp Adventure opens its doors to our “restaurant” as we invite faculty, staff, and parents to enjoy an Italian lunch.

Week 5 (July 14 – 18) Kids Garage and Soapbox Derby
SFSC’s auto mechanic and auto collision shop opens its doors to Camp Adventure.  Each day, campers will learn about basic auto concepts such as using a tire gauge, checking the oil, and experiencing life under the hood.  Campers will also learn the importance of safety as a passenger and future driver/owner of a vehicle.  Let’s not forget our annual Soapbox Derby!!

Week 6 (July 21 – 25) All Aboard… Jobs on Amazing Wheels
Let’s wrap up camp by exploring a variety of jobs on amazing wheels.  Campers get a ride from SFSC’s semi-truck and watch our electrical program’s bucket truck reach for the sky.  Campers will have their pictures taken as they have an up close look at an Ambulance, Fire Truck and Police Car.  Bring your bathing suit and towel on Friday.

  • Friday Celebration – Water Bouncy Slide takes the place of a field trip. 

*No camp during the week of June 30- July 4.
